Zero point and laser/cnc

#1

Hi,

What is the relationship between units in the mooz studio software and the print bed?

For example, if I position an image in mooz studio 20 units up and 20 units over from the bottom left, then put a piece of material at the same position in the bed, will it etch the material?

I THINK the answer is, it depends where you zero the laser.

Here’s how I think it works- can anyone confirm or correct?
Wherever you zero the laser (x, y, and z), that becomes the bottom left corner of the workspace in mooz studio.

So it seems like the best workflow is always to put the image in the bottom left of mooz studio, then zero the laser at the point on the material that you want the bottom left corner of the etching to be.

Correct?

If so, it would be handy to have a “snap to bottom left” setting in mooz studio.

You are right, we are working on upgrading the software.

Snapping to the bottom left would be an excellent option. Also, you can only create images of maximum 129 x 129 mm instead of 130 x 130 mm. And MoozStudio has options for setting X and Y, but those are not coordinates but width and height. So that’s a bit confusing too.
